UPDATE: OCTOBER 27
To the MediaChannel Community,
Thank you for your positive response to our financial appeal! You have convinced us that you appreciate our work and recognize its value. In exchange, we commit to continuing our mission “to watch the media, as the media watches the world” for as long as possible.
That said, we are still looking for partners to work with, and still seeking grants and reader support. We believe that MediaChannel would be ideal as a training platform for a university media program.
The issues that motivate us — media concentration, censorship and self-censorship and media deception, among others — have not gone away. Please help us stay in the fight with your donations, your active support and by reaching out to others.
Your suggestions are always welcome. Your loyalty is ever appreciated.

MediaChannel Needs To Raise $30k to Survive and Stay Online
The generosity of our members and readers has helped us survive in the past… and we need your help once again!
As we watch the implosions on Wall Street with 150 year old institutions tanking, as we critique multi-billion dollar bailouts, and as we note the decline of so many media institutions, please remember that media deregulation is a major reason why so many Americans were caught by surprise at the economic calamity caused by financial deregulation – and that MediaChannel is one of the few independent and progressive media outlets that has been offering daily coverage and dissections of the global economic collapse.
Unfortunately, as we chronicled the world’s financial crisis, we began having one of our own!
Our partner has alerted us that their company cannot sustain funding after October 15. Unfortunately, GlobalVision and our not for profit affiliate The Global Center cannot as well. That means we may have to stop producing MediaChannel, even as its contribution to our political debate is more timely and relevant than ever. If you look back at our work, you will find that we are often out front on the key issues offering informed commentary, provocative blogs and global content that is not available elsewhere. We feature information about the media and its many flaws and failures that is hard to find elsewhere. We travel around the world to meet colleagues and represent an independent media perspective that supports human rights for journalists and the need to improve diversity and substance in a media system that turns its back on so many issues that matter.
We have invested ourselves and our souls into MediaChannel.org to serve our readers and the larger values of a free media that acts as a watch dog, not a lap dog, a media that speaks truth to power and is willing to critique our own industry.
Now, for the lack of a relatively small amount of money, this whole effort is at risk.
If we can raise $30k, we can survive for another 6 months while we institute new fundraising initiatives and editorial upgrades. Can you help us survive with a tax-deductible donation of $25, $50 or $100+?
If we can get just 1200 of our readers to donate $25 or more, we can keep leading this fight!
If MediaChannel goes down, we will still take pride in what we have done and in the original mission of watching the media as it watches the world. We don’t have much room to tighten our belts further, but we will do what we can. We are actively seeking a partner or a benefactor, but as we do, we have to turn to you, our readers, once again, to seek your help to keep going in that pursuit.
So please stay with us and help us try to find the means to stay alive with the kind of quality journalism and informed commentaries that are so vitally needed, and so conspicuously absent in much of our media.
We are willing to keep going, but can only do so with your help. Don’t just complain about bad media - SUPPORT INDEPENDENT, TRUTH-TELLING PROGRESSIVE MEDIA!
You can support MediaChannel with tax-deductible donations via PAY PAL or with a check made out to The Global Center (please write for MediaChannel.org on the check). Our address is:
The Global Center
575 8th Avenue, #2200
New York, NY 10018 USA

Thank you for your support!

And to all the readers who have already donated, offered ideas and circulated our reports and appeals to their friends, Thank You!!
