Humor aside, maybe Colbert has forgotten the storm of media reports of
unsubstantiated rumors during the Bill Clinton White House 90’s - - especially the N Y Times (check out the series of editorials and drum beating by Howell Raines) and the Washington Post - - along with the rest of the media. And then there’s Matt Drudge - - who is taken quite seriously by the mainstream media when one of his endless string of rumors happens to turn out to be true.
