‘Meet the Bloggers’ is the next iteration of online video issue advocacy from Brave New Foundation. Brave New Foundation was responsible for education and outreach on the issue advocacy documentaries “Iraq For Sale: The War Profiteers” and “Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price.” Our organizations have mastered the YouTube viral video medium — the videos produced by Brave New Foundation and Brave New Films have together garnered over 23 million views, causing numerous headaches and worse for the targets of their online campaigns. Now Brave New Foundation is on the cusp of launching an entirely new way to discuss the issues: weekly, high quality webcast programs that look every bit as professional as cable news but with an independent, progressive, non-corporate point of view.
Each Friday, Meet the Bloggers will introduce viewers to personalities from the progressive blogosphere. The show will be hosted by Cenk Uygur from The Young Turks, and the format will feature a guest of the week, issue of the week and a video of the week, interspersed with round-table discussion from bloggers based all around the country. Regular and semi-regular blogger participants will include:
* Matt Stoller, Open Left
* Nico Pitney, The Huffington Post
* Liliana Segura, Alternet
* Faiz Shakir, Think Progress
* Roberto Lovato, Of America
* David Waldman, Daily Kos
* Christina Siun O’Connell, Firedoglake
* Pam Spaulding, Pam’s House Blend
* Micah Sifry, Tech President
* Christy Hardin Smith, Firedoglake
* Baratunde Thurston, Jack & Jill Politics
* David Sirota, Credo Action
* Todd Beeton, MyDD
* and others.
Going beyond the technological capacity of call-in television talk shows, viewers will be able to interact with guests on Meet the Bloggers by sending in questions through their web cams and watching a live video feed of themselves and the guest in conversation. Viewers will also be able to interact with one another through a live blogging feature on meetthebloggers.org.
The goal of Meet The Bloggers is to raise the volume of substantive, progressive news analysis within the broad public conversation on important issues facing the country and the world, a task that the mainstream media has been unable or unwilling to perform.
Meet The Bloggers will showcase:
* Substantive, smart, unconventional news opinion and analysis
* Professionally-trained on-air talent
* High-caliber interview guests
* Syndication on major blogs and online news sites like Huffington Post, Alternet and Think Progress
* Live video interactivity by viewers
Meetthebloggers.org will feature:
* Live broadcast every Friday
* Past episodes on demand
* Live blogging interactivity during webcasts
* Announcement of upcoming guests
