The European Jouralism Centre (EJC) is taking part in a multi-national research venture called CASAM, or Computer-Aided Semantic Annotation of Media. The project is an attempt to facilitate and speed up the task of annotating – or “tagging” – audio and video footage for purposes of archiving, comfortable search and retrieval. The EJC’s role in this project is, as you may expect, the contribution of a journalistic perspective.
If successful, CASAM technology will speed up journalistic research for audio segments and moving images originating from radio, television, or the Internet, and will deliver more reliable and usable results. In short: It is supposed to make your life easier.
During the current early stage of the project, the developing engineers need as much input from media professionals as possible. Therefore we call on journalists, archivists, and librarians from all media categories to fill in and return the questionnaire that is available here. This will only take about 10 minutes of your time.
In order to make it worth your while to participate, we will draw four of the respondents and reward them with Amazon coupons worth € 50 each.
Data protection: If you prefer to remain anonymous, simply leave the fields for name and organisation empty. The EJC will separate your questionnaire from your email address and not disclose any personal information to third parties, not even to other members of the research consortium.
CASAM is supported by the European Union’s Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP 7).
Thank you for your participation!
