Hi, I'm the founder of Spot.us and wanted to respond to the comments.

To the first commenter: you are right. Those are the untold stories. It will be hard to fundraise for them. In fact, the money might not come directly from the poor people themselves (although the idea is that we lower the cost by distributing it over a large group of people) - but other networks and organizations. I'm sure there are civic organizations in Colorado that care about these issues - and probably try and pitch news organizations to cover them all them time - but because they aren't paid subscribers - are overlooked.

To the second comment: I am well aware that PR people might try to abuse the system - but I am putting in systems that will ensure money raised is from are from real people. Not corporate entities.

That is fine where there are people with money to donate. Where the stories are in Colorado is in corrupt places like Canon City where a social conscience can get you shot if you are poor. Your five year old raped if you speak up. Or worse there are several counties using social services to keep the lid on and would be reporters toeing the line.
The real stories about America are about the poor, the enslaved, addicted, trapped not very pretty stories. Most of journalism turned on these people years ago.
These people millions of them show how America fails the citizen. If one starts telling these stories one slips onto lists kept in offices with acronyms and when re employed there are visits and phone calls...Weasels never sleep.
