From" Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail" to "The Boys on the Bus" to Ms. Fowler, we’ve been shown countless times how flawed mainstream reporting has become. It is bad for journalism but it is awful for democracy. Mayhill Fowler, a so-called “amateur,” did a much better job of covering the campaigns than did the purported “professionals.” In fact, Ms. Fowler simply did what all reporters used to do: Follow the truth.

Talk about Stockholm Syndrome. The people on the fringes seem to be a whole lot better at reporting than a jet load of wonks and freeloaders.
