Thankyou, the above two comments,alwz and friend, forget,Free press means CHOICE, the availability of choice. Example, I can chose to watch, many; BBC,DW Germany,Italian news, French news, News from Spain, Japanese news and Korean news. Also I have a choice of NBC, ABC,CNN,CBS, FOX, and local florida or LA-California, and a few more like American Station, CNN International etc. NOW what I found was that they don’t all tell the same lies at the same time!!!, And therefore with my simple mindedness I can have opinions from around the world, I can read between the lines, maintain a Global out look, and still know what’s going on around the corner on Cancun beach. I do what I want, Where and When, choices, CHOICES, EQUALS FREEDOM. Now I can’t get that kind of access to information in China, and elsewhere!Truth or Consequences Or Both. Let the Media do their Job, untouched, It’s only a choice, behave yourselves. Peter Knopfler.

Well said, alwz.

Journalists can kill, or at least help killing without showing blood - more so in a democratic country than a totalitarian nation. Example: All major media outlets in US lined behind GW Bush when he unilaterally launched the war in Iraq. Any one voiced against the war was labeled as unpatriotic. The consequence, more than 4000 young men and women died and over hundred thousand Iraqis perished, and US is more susceptible to terrorist attack than ever. Propaganda, brainwash are not monopolized by communist regimes only.

If free press spread lies in the name of freedom, I’d rather giving up the appreciation of such freedom. At least, people become immune from the non-free press, and can tell lies and truth from the information it provided. People can just be killed without any perception as long as free press wants to.

Journalism has degenerated to be less signicant than gossip. I am glad to see such degenerated journalists are going to be jailed. As human being, journalists and non-journalists are equal in front of law and order.
