Air America Host Randi Rhodes Suspended For Calling Hillary A “Big F*cking Whore”

Air America host Randi Rhodes called both Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton “whores” in a recent appearance, seen below. Rhodes, who hosts a weekday radio show on Air America, said to the cheering crowd, “What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She’s such a fucking whore!” She then proceeded to say, “Hillary is a big fucking whore, too” to a mixed audience reaction. “You know why she’s a big fucking whore? Because her deal is always, ‘Read the fine print, asshole!’”

Update: Rhodes has been now been suspended from the network. Air America released the following statement:

Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Senator Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.

“Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our Hosts,” said chair Charlie Kireker.

Air America has shot its self in the foot again! While not on public air waves she has the right to free speach. Whore, Fucking and any other description of ANY candidate is her right of free speech. I do not agree with her on this matter, but I agree with her right to speak freely and hope you wake up and have her return ASAP.

Randi Rhodes has always said like she feels. While I do not necessarily agree with her regarding her recent comments, she was “off the air”, and entitled to her opinions. It is hard enough to receive air america in small town Colorado, and to be without her program is a unthinable. Mark Greene get her back on the air! Marie Messner

Randi Rhodes is one of the greatest!…She always tells it like it is and what you hear is what you get! Though I did not agree with the remarks for which she was suspended, in her defense, Randi was not on the air, was speaking in a nightclub atmosphere and has a right to express her personal opinions. As one of the last bastians of news digging and truth telling on the air, Randi will be an irreplacable loss to listeners tired of spin and daily news screened by corporate media.

I agreee with everyone who says that Randi has a right to free speech. Again, she was off the air in a public venue and should not have used that language. But she said what she feels and that’s part of free speech. I hope that Charlie Kireker wakes up and realizes what he’s done. Randi is the number one progressive talk show host in the U.S. Suspending her is a little harsh. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot AGAIN, Air America.

I support Randi Rhodes right to free speech. She should not have been suspended for saying what she wanted to in a context she thought was humorous and she was not on the “air.”

I’m writing this during the time that I would be listening to Randi and I’m in total fear that I can’t hear her again. Randi is one of the few bravest I’ve ever heard. She is often like the lone ranger trying to right wrongs. I always feared for her because her opinions
were so often cutting and on the mark. SHE TAKES NO PRISONERS when it comes to hypocritical political officials. She used to adore the Clintons except for a few programs they helped to push forward such as in NAFTA and FCC deregulations. Hillary has been behaving like a Republican and rather Rovian, Randi was outraged and so am I. Now that this has happened to Randi and I feel that the Clinton’s might have had something to do with, I will have a terrible time voting for Hillary if she worms this election her way. SHE HAS DIVIDED THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BECAUSE SHE IS NOT
DEMOCRATIC.

Randy is very informed, but I could do without the spewing hate, foul language and the way her voice always sounds like she’s showering spit all over the mike. When we need to come together, she seems to have taken a page out of the Right’s book, that doesn’t advance our cause. She also doesn’t treat people who call in with respect. How can we claim to be any better than the right, when our representatives come off as low class and sleezy. Randi is too smart to depend on foul language and stereotypes and we should demand more of her. I can only stand to listen to her for about 15 minutes before I have to turn her off.

as I had watched the video, I would have sworn I was watching a standup routine of the likes of Lenny Bruce or George Carlin or Saturday nite live. She was having fun. She is who she is. She was in San Fran. (Cal’s Greenwhich village of the west) She was not on the Job. Yes, she was a tad crude (for some). I likened her to a shock Jock. Much like Imus or Howard. She was fully entitled to free speach at the time, as she was not on the air. I agree with how she feels but not with the taste - less way she put it. Still she doesn’t deserve to be suspended from her job. Maybe given a stern dressing down for the image she reflects, but as for foul language, and off air antics - was she any worse than Bill O ??? I think not. And when one stops to think about some of the Vulgarity of the Vice president of the US???

at birth” twin of Ann Coulter. What would either of these women have done without the right to spew their venom and pimp their self-loathing into careers?

In words of our illustrious Vice President, “So…” Randi is very unique and is so regular too. She is a lot like a lot of us, worried, smart, informed, uninformed, broke, rich, just out there to do the right thing. This isn’t a suspension, she needs a vacation for her brain. She is one of the lucky ones who gets paid to say what she thinks. Language is power and with this break, maybe, just maybe Randi could realize that cursory language doesn’t always make the point. Yes it can be effective but in this very sensitive setting, our world it is like getting beat up.You don’t have to soften up your thoughts but use your language smarter, clearer and just as direct as “cursing”. I am not a pollyanna by no means, just want our girl back on the air, even if it is not Air America which started out with the very best of intentions and should not lose sight of them.

This is outragious; Mark Green should continue the vision of Air America, not suck up to Hilary. If Radni’s not back soon, they can scratch me as a listener.

Hillary IS a big fucking whore. A big fucking CORPORATE whore. And when she is selling out our citizens and country for pennies on the dollar to those CORPORATE crooks, and Randi can say it with the very words I use in my head angrily, and still get LAUGHS, well then her speech is not only free, it’s important and deserves all our support.

Air America has no balls, no backbone & no brains - media is the fucking whore. We all know that.

Air America didn’t back her up, tha looks very bad for them. I am boycotting them. Randi we love you more.

I can’t believe Randi is off the air!!! Ok slap her hand (if you must) but bring her back!!! She is a breath of fresh air. She’s the only one on the air who actually tells it like it is without all the frills. Air Amreica is simply crazy if they don’t bring her back!
