Good morning, USA. It’s Wednesday. Sen. Barack Obama’s resounding victories in yesterday’s so-called Potomac Primaries are getting lots of attention in the nation’s other major newspapers, according to Slate.
The latest primary results are also leading the news at CNN, MSNBC, Yahoo News, Fox News and NPR.
"The outcome provided him his first chance to assert that the Democratic race, which had seemed to be heading into a protracted standoff, is beginning to break in his direction," The New York Times reports. "And it left Mrs. Clinton facing weeks in which she has few opportunities for the kind of victory that would alter the race in her favor after a string of defeats notable not just for their number but also their magnitude."
Sen. John McCain also emerged victorious in Maryland, Virginia and Washington. "But even as he dominated the Potomac Primary, McCain lost conservatives in Virginia, as he has across the South and parts of the Midwest — trailing [former Arkansas governor Mike] Huckabee among that group and evangelicals as he attempts to unite a fractured Republican Party behind his candidacy," The Washington Post reports.
The Los Angeles Times says the Senate voted yesterday to grant telecom companies retroactive immunity for any role they may have played in government surveillance operations.
The top story at BBC News says director Steven Spielberg is withdrawing
from his role as an adviser to the Olympics because of China’s
opposition to intervention in Darfur, Sudan.

I figure the media will be hyping Clinton now so that more sheep will vote for her, just to keep things intereting.
That’s what they did with Obama, hype him until I was convinced we were witnessing the second coming of Christ!
We must remember that the media cares nothing for democracy or open government; only for profit and ratings!
Hillary claims that she is and has always been against the war in Iraq, yet not only did she vote FOR it, but she CONTINUES to give George Bush every thing he demands to keep the war in operation. That makes her a major liar and war mongerer IMO.
When Katrina hit NOLA, Bill Clinton climbed into George Bush Sr’s lap and sucked his thumb instead of publicly speaking out in support of the people that Bush Jr left to die in the flood. When he aligned himself with the Republicans instead of with Jimmy Carter at this time, he lost me, one of his most fervent supporters until he did this. Besides his signing of NAFTA, this close camaraderie with the Bush family makes the Clinton’s toxic to me.
The only way Hillary will win is through vote theft.
If the superdelegates vote for her they will cause an irreparable split in the Democratic Party which will please the Pelosi/Hillary bunch in AIPAC and the Corporate Lobby.
They are all warmongers and war profiteers supported by certain foreign interests and dual nationals who have taken over our government.
