<description>As I read what the Baghdad Diarist wrote I had to think about of the days when I was an ER Nurse in a busy trauma center. There was more than one time when staff members, including me, was inappropriate and cruel with laughter and jokes. Some how turning terrible situations into laughter made it easier and this was in a safe environment. I can feel nothing but compassion for all of the men and women who are undergoing physical danger and emotional trauma while serving their country. How easy it is to set in our arm chairs and talk about the right thing to do with a beer in hand and a belly full of righteous indignation.
