Great job. Kudos to Keith and Countdown and to Michael Moore. I'm one of those people who had to cash in my retirement fund to pay medical bills that my very expensive health insurance did not pay.
Thanks.

Sick and Sicker ....

There is a reason that people in nation's with government run health care who have the means ... come here, to the US, for healthcare.

Why anyone would want to force mediocre care for everyone instead of outstanding healthcare for most is beyond me.

Most people in the US have access to outstanding care.

What we need to do is to promote tort reform and get rid of these crazy law suits which drive the cost of care way up.

Above the line tax deductions for all health related insurance including long-term care insurance is needed.

The last thing we need is to bring Cuba style healthcare to the US ...

Sick and sicker!

I wonder if Moore or anyone else advocating a single-payer plan -- which I agree is the only sane option -- has a strategy for dealing with the insurance industry. Certainly some companies are diversified into other forms of insurance and even other financial products, but there must be companies which would be put out of business by an abrupt switch to Federal health insurance. And although there would be new Federal jobs opening up, I imagine there are whole sections of these companies -- e.g., marketing -- which would have no parallel in the government set-up. I won't cry for the insurance companies or their boards of directors, but I am concerned about thousands of ordinary employees perhaps finding themselves out of work, and possibly an insurance town like Hartford, CT being economically devastated.

Incidentally, we've got to make sure the distinction is always made between government-funded health care and government-run health care. It's one thing for Uncle Sam to pay the bills, quite another for Michael Chertoff to remove your gall bladder. I have no doubt the right will play on the confusion to scare people into thinking a single-payer insurance program would mean socialized medicine on every level.

Thank you to Michael Moore and Keith Olberman for giving voice to Truth and Honesty. I am looking forward to watching Sicko when it comes to our town.
I want to share a bit from a piece that
Gavin McNett wrote: Santorum Suggest New Terror Attacks Will Change View Of War

"Santorum went on to clearly imply that terror attacks will occur inside America which will alter the body politic and lead to a reversal of the anti-war sentiment now dominating the country."

"Between now and November, a lot of things are going to happen, and I believe that by this time next year, the American public's going to have a very different view of this war, and it will be because, I think, of some unfortunate events, that like we're seeing unfold in the UK. But I think the American public's going to have a very different view," said the former senator from Pennsylvania.

And from an article by Paul Joseph Watson:
“Is Santorum expressing foreknowledge of some coming atrocity or is he merely using a tactic familiar to the leadership of his party - exploiting the fear of terror for the purposes of political rhetoric?

Last month, the new chairman of the Arkansas Republican Party Dennis Milligan said that there needed to be more attacks on American soil for President Bush to regain popular approval.

A confidential memo circulating among senior Republican leaders suggests that a new attack by terrorists on U.S. soil could reverse the sagging fortunes of President George W. Bush as well as the GOP and "restore his image as a leader of the American people," reported Capitol Hill Blue on November 12, 2005.”

It seems to me as though NeoCon Republican leaders want their view to dominate the world at whatever the cost, whether it be propaganda versus freedom of the press or the allowance of terrorist attacks to take place on American soil.
I hope that more people start speaking out and that the rest start listening and take action to prevent catastrophic loss of life everywhere, dictatorship, and World War III.

Nice to watch Blitzer get blitzed.

No reason to answer the pitiful questions Blitzer , et. al. ask. They should be resigning in shame or broadcasting US war crimes in Iraq along with domestic issues like the ones raised here by Moore.
