CPJ Presents Journalists With Awards
Five journalists from Cuba, Kosovo, Pakistan, and Colombia were awarded the 1999 International Press Freedom Awards for their courage and independence in reporting the news. The Committee to Protect Journalists will hold an official ceremony for them in November to award the reporters who have been beaten, jailed, or had their lives threatened because of their work.
