Monitoring TV News Coverage of the
Cindy Sheehan Arrest
MediaChannel used the powerful MediaVision tool to monitor
television news coverage of the Cindy Sheehan arrest at
the State of the Union address. Below are the results
of our MediaVision search:
Many
stations ran token coverage stating that she wore an anti-war
shirt and was arrested for it.

One
station wrongly reported that she was arrested for unfurling
a flag:

One
was misleading in the way it referenced Ms. Sheehan "decided
to hold a demonstration at the Capitol":
KOVR,
Sacramento; Affiliation: CBS <Watch

A
few Fox affiliates in their coverage of Ms. Sheehan also
mentioned that the wife of Republican congressman Bill
Young (R-FL) was "kicked out" as well, for wearing
a "Support Our Troops" shirt. They then showed
a clip of the congressman on the House floor holding up
the shirt, saying that it was shameful that she got kicked
out for wearing it.

However,
MSNBC and CNN Headline News reported that, according to
Capitol Hill Police, Mrs. Young was NOT kicked out but
had left on her own.

Hmm,
was this some quick counter measure to take away from
the anti-war message?
AND
FINALLY,
The
Most In-Depth News Coverage of the Cindy Sheehan Arrest
Goes to...
ABC's
The View.
Yes,
the morning female-oriented talk show held a very interesting
debate on the topic, outdoing all network news coverage!
