About MediaChannel
MediaChannel is a clearinghouse for international media information and analysis. It is the Internet's premier nonprofit source of news about the media, penetrating media analysis, in-depth research and reports, proposals for reform and forums for debate. Moving beyond the mainstream news media to provide truly diverse perspectives from around the world, MediaChannel seeks to inform and inspire a global community of citizens concerned about the media and ways to improve them.
MediaChannel brings together content from NGOs, nonprofit groups, professional associations, academic researchers, media outlets and independent media monitors. This non-exclusive arrangement enables us to draw attention to the work of these organizations, promote their activities and information, and connect them to a global network of potential colleagues, collaborators and supporters.
MediaChannel is a non-for-profit public interest project of two internationally-oriented entities, The Global Center and OneWorld Online. The Global Center, a tax-exempt, New York-based educational foundation has been recognized for the high quality of its innovative, award-winning productions on human rights and social issues, including the television series "South Africa Now" and "Rights And Wrongs," and the widely distributed educational video "Connected, Careers For The Future." OneWorld Online, a non-profit venture of England's OneWorld Broadcasting Trust, produces one of the leading informational supersites (at www.oneworld.net), a global multinational and multilingual news service dedicated to human rights, sustainable development and the environment. MediaChannel is guided by the expertise and experience of over 65 international advisors, an impressive cross-section of renowned media professionals, scholars and critics.
