Bio Karen Lee Wald is a writer and freelance journalist from the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area in California, where she also worked as a bilingual teacher and college instructor. Since 1969 she has been writing about Cuba, where she has maintained temporary residence since 1982 as a foreign correspondent. Ms. Wald's path to Cuba began in the 1960s Civil Rights, student and anti-Vietnam War movements, and she continues to travel back and forth between her homes in both countries and to be involved in the struggles in each.Favorite activities: writing, networking people, and responding to the disinformation campaigns against Cuba with factual information. Hardest task to date: raising two children as a single parent. Most rewarding tasks: raising two children; getting information to people who want it; breaking the information blockade against Cuba. | |
